Rock Climbing HelmetsAre rock climbing
helmets necessary?
The answer is: "yes they are an
essential piece of equipment". Many accidents could have been
avoided if the climber was wearing a helmet. The bones of the human
skull have a 4-7 mm thickness and can't stand great strain. The only
item that protects your head and your brain from anything that falls
on it is the helmet.
Modern rock climbing helmets
A modern rock climbing helmet is made of hard
fibres(fiberglass). Its shape must sufficiently cover the head
without preventing movement, sight or hearing. The shell must have
places to put the headlamp and openings so the head can be
ventilated. Set the inner strap so the helmet fits perfectly on the
head and it remains on the same position as you move.
