Types of rock climbing harnesses

There are three types of rock climbing harnesses:

  • The adjustable harnesses with adjustable thigh straps. They are useful for winter because you don't have to take your boots off. Also you can adjust them according to the clothes you are wearing.

  • The ordinary harnesses with fixed thigh straps. They come in different sizes(small, medium, large), are lighter and comfortable. They have 3-4 rings to hang equipment. These are the most suitable if you want them only for rock.

  • The competition harnesses. The rock climbing harnesses which are made for competitions have thinner straps. They have 2 rings for hanging equipment and are much lighter than other harnesses. However they are not so comfortable when you are hanging from them.
